Duple memory: how your companion remembers you.

What Duple’s long-term memory stores, how it is used in chat, and how to reset or delete it.

By Duple EditorialUpdated October 15, 2026

Quick answer

Duple has long-term memory as a standard feature. It extracts facts, preferences and emotional moments from your chats, stores them per companion, and retrieves relevant ones as you talk. Recall is helpful, not perfect. You can reset a companion’s memory or delete your account in the app.

What Duple remembers

Duple’s memory is automatic. As you chat, Duple extracts facts, preferences, emotional moments and episodic memories from your conversation and stores them for that companion. It is a standard part of the app, not a setting you have to switch on.

Examples of the kinds of things it stores: something you said about your week, a preference you mentioned, or a moment that mattered to you. Duple has not published a full list of what it keeps, so treat these as categories, not a promise that every detail is stored.

How memory is used in a chat

According to the Privacy Policy, memories are converted into numerical representations (embeddings) and stored in Duple’s database. When you chat, the most relevant memories are retrieved and given to the AI so your companion can feel consistent over time. Memory belongs to each companion, so a companion in your roster remembers its own conversations.

What memory can and can’t do

Memory makes a companion more consistent, but recall is not perfect. It can miss details or surface something at the wrong moment, as with any AI that retrieves from stored notes. Memory is not a transcript, and a companion is not a person who lives through events with you. For a plain-language explainer, read how AI companion memory works.

Your control: reset and delete

Memory is processed by third-party AI providers on Duple’s behalf. Read sections 3, 4 and 7 of the Privacy Policy for details.

Frequently asked questions

Does Duple have long-term memory?

Yes. Duple stores facts, preferences and emotional moments from your chats for each companion and retrieves relevant ones as you talk.

Can I reset Duple’s memory?

Yes. You can reset a companion’s chat history and memories in the app settings at any time. The Privacy Policy says this erases the messages, memories and media for that companion.

Does each companion have separate memory?

Memory is stored per companion, so each companion in your roster remembers its own conversations.

Is Duple’s memory perfect?

No. Recall can miss details or bring up the wrong thing. Treat it as helpful, not exact.
