Two kinds of AI girlfriend photos: chat selfies and generators
There are two different things behind the search, and they suit different people. Google’s top results for “ai girlfriend photo” on October 28, 2026 were almost all web image generators, many of them adult sites. The App Store results were mostly companion apps that send pictures inside a conversation.
Selfies in a companion app
- What you get
- Pictures your companion “sends” in the chat, often when you ask
- Context
- Tied to the conversation: where she is, what you talked about
- Consistency
- Aims to keep the same character across pictures
- Typical cost
- Subscription, in-app currency, or a daily allowance
- Best for
- People who want the photos to be part of an ongoing relationship
Image generators
- What you get
- Images from a text prompt (or an uploaded picture), with no conversation
- Context
- Only what you type into the prompt
- Consistency
- Varies; you often re-describe the character each time
- Typical cost
- Credits per image or a subscription
- Best for
- People who mainly want pictures, art or wallpapers
This guide is about the first kind: photos inside a companion app on iPhone. If you mostly want short clips rather than stills, see AI girlfriend video. If you want to design her look from scratch, see how to create an AI girlfriend.
What 22 App Store results for “ai girlfriend photo” show
On October 28, 2026 we pulled every result Apple’s US App Store search returned for “ai girlfriend photo” (22 apps), then read each listing’s description, age rating and in-app purchase list.
- Photos aren’t a given. 12 of the 21 companion apps mention photos, pictures, images or selfies in their descriptions. The other 9 don’t mention them at all, including the most-reviewed app in the results, EVA AI Soulmate (24,667 US ratings). The app may still have photos, but the listing doesn’t tell you.
- Some photos are about you. MyBabe AI invites you to send a photo of yourself so it can make a picture of you both, and Butterflies says you can take photos with your AI. Neko AI, the one generator in the results, turns your own photos into anime-style images.
- Video is rarer. 4 of the 21 companion apps (Ai Girl, Iris, MyBabe AI and DesireX) mention videos too.
- Mostly 17+. 21 of the 22 apps are 17+ in Apple’s API; Noami is 9+. Duple, also 17+, did not appear in these results.
- Many are new and small. 8 of the 21 companion apps were first released in 2026, 11 have fewer than 100 US ratings, and the median is 58.

What AI girlfriend photos cost
All 22 apps are free to download. Whether the photos are free is a separate question, and only a few listings answer it.
- Photos behind a subscription. 4 descriptions say so directly. Noami says a paid subscription is required for chat, voice and photo features, with up to 2 AI images a day on every plan. Lovetta lists AI-generated photos as part of its subscription, AI Girlfriend – Buzz says its subscription unlocks all photos, and MyBabe AI lists photo sharing as a premium feature.
- Coins, gems and hearts. At least 10 of the 21 companion apps sell an in-app currency (coins, credits, gems, hearts, crystals, stamina, energy or neurons) alongside or instead of a subscription. The listings rarely say how much a single picture costs.
- Weekly plans. 6 apps show a weekly plan in their in-app purchases; the cheapest weekly price in each runs from $4.99 to $9.99, with a median of $6.99. A $6.99 weekly plan is about $363 a year if you never cancel.
A simple rule: scroll to the in-app purchase list on the listing before you download, and look for the words “photo”, “image” or a currency name. Our AI companion app cost guide compares plans across the bigger apps.
Duple works the same way in outline, so here it is plainly: the app is free with a Lite plan, and its App Store listing says some features require Dokens (Duple’s in-app currency, from $1.99) or Duple Plus ($6.99 a week, $14.99 a month or $69 a year). In the app, adding an outfit showed a cost of 100 Dokens. The cost of each action is shown in the app before you spend. See Duple pricing.

How to get better AI girlfriend photos
The photos you get depend a lot on what you ask for. These habits help in most companion apps:
- Ask in context. “Send me a selfie from the café you mentioned” gives the model more to work with than “send a pic”. Photos tied to the conversation feel more like hers.
- Use the app’s presets. Many apps offer shot types or a picture menu. They tend to give more consistent framing than free text.
- Keep one character. Consistency comes from the app’s saved character, so asking the same companion for pictures works better than rebuilding her look each time.
- Change the outfit, not the person. If an app has outfits or a wardrobe, use it to vary pictures without drifting away from her look.
- Save the good ones. Favourite or save pictures you like; generated images are not always reproducible.
- Report bad results. Generated images sometimes come out wrong. Look for a report option; in Duple it’s in each image’s menu.
Privacy, consent and safety with AI girlfriend photos
Generated photos of a fictional companion are low-risk on their own. The risks come from what you upload and who the pictures could resemble.
- Never use someone else’s photo. Don’t upload a real person’s picture, or name a real person, to make AI girlfriend images of them without their consent. It can cause real harm, and in many places sexualized deepfakes of real people are illegal.
- Think before uploading your own face. A selfie is personal data. If an app asks for one, read its App Privacy label and privacy policy first, and check whether you can delete it.
- Treat “private” as a claim. Neko AI says your images “are used only for generation and remain private”. That is the developer’s statement, not an audit. Assume pictures and prompts reach the company’s servers.
- Check the age rating. 21 of the 22 apps are 17+ in Apple’s API, often because they allow mature content. Pick a rating that fits what you want.
- Remember they’re fictional. Duple’s listing says every companion and generated image is fictional. Realistic photos can still feel personal, and that is fine, as long as the app isn’t replacing sleep, money you need or people in your life. Our guide Are AI companions real? covers the feelings side.

How photos work in Duple
In Duple, photos are part of the conversation. You create your companion, chat by text, and ask for pictures when you want them. Duple’s App Store listing describes it as: receive generated selfies, create personalized pictures and save your favorites, design custom outfits, and keep saved images in one personal library.
- Ask in the chat. Ask for a selfie and your companion replies with a generated picture.
- Or use the picture tray. The message box has a tray of preset shots such as “Close selfie” and “High angle”, plus a video toggle for Live Selfies, short generated videos. Duple also supports custom images and video.
- Outfits. Add outfits to change what she wears; in the app, adding an outfit showed a cost of 100 Dokens.
- One library. Saved pictures and videos sit in a library you can filter by companion, and long-term memory keeps the chat itself consistent. See Duple memory.
- More than one companion. Build a roster of companions; each has her own look. The free Lite plan allows 2.
- What it isn’t. Duple is rated 17+, isn’t built for explicit content, has no voice or video calls, and is iPhone only (iOS 26 or later).

Duple is a good fit if you want photos that come out of a real conversation, a 17+ app, and a clear free plan to try first.
It’s not the right fit if you want explicit images, a web image generator, a ready-made character catalogue, or voice and video calls.

AI girlfriend photos FAQ
What are AI girlfriend photos?
AI girlfriend photos are AI-generated pictures of a fictional companion. In a companion app she “sends” them in the chat as selfies, usually when you ask; in a web image generator you type a description and get pictures with no conversation. They are not photos of a real person.
Which AI girlfriend apps send photos?
Many, but not all say so. Of the 21 companion apps Apple’s US App Store returned for “ai girlfriend photo” on October 28, 2026, 12 mention photos, pictures or images in their descriptions and 9 don’t mention them at all. Duple’s listing says you receive generated selfies, can create personalized pictures and keep them in one library.
Are AI girlfriend photos free?
Sometimes, within limits. All 22 apps in our snapshot are free to download, but 4 descriptions put photo features behind a subscription (one says plans include up to 2 AI images a day), and at least 10 of the 21 companion apps also sell an in-app currency such as coins, gems or hearts. Check the in-app purchase list on the listing before you start.
Can I upload my own photo to an AI girlfriend app?
Some apps ask for one. In our snapshot, MyBabe AI invites you to send a photo of yourself so it can make a picture of you both, and Butterflies says you can take photos with your AI. Only upload your own photo, never someone else’s, and read the app’s privacy label first, because a face photo is personal data.
Is it safe to make AI photos of a real person?
No. Don’t use a real person’s photo or name to make AI girlfriend images of them without their consent. It can hurt them, and in many places sexualized deepfakes of real people are illegal. Keep AI companion photos to fictional characters.
Why are most AI girlfriend photo apps rated 17+?
Because many allow mature or suggestive content. 21 of the 22 apps in our snapshot are 17+ in Apple’s API. Duple is rated 17+ and is not built for explicit content.
How do photos work in Duple?
Ask your companion for a picture in the chat, or open the picture tray in the message box and choose a preset shot such as “Close selfie” or “High angle”. Switch on the tray’s video toggle for a Live Selfie, a short generated video. Outfits change what she wears, and your pictures are saved in one library. Some features need Dokens or Duple Plus.
How we checked
On October 28, 2026 we queried Apple’s iTunes Search API for “ai girlfriend photo” (US store, software, 25 results requested, 22 returned). For each app we recorded the title, US ratings count and release date from the API, and the age rating and in-app purchase list from its US App Store page. Age ratings are the trackContentRating value from Apple’s API, checked October 30, 2026; Apple’s API reports 17+ for apps whose store pages show 16+ or 18+. Apps no longer on the US App Store keep the rating their listing showed on the snapshot date. We read each description for photos, pictures, images or selfies, video, uploads of your own photo, and photo paywalls, and checked every count by hand. We also looked at Google’s US results for “ai girlfriend photo” and “ai girlfriend pictures” on the same day. We did not test competitor apps. Duple facts come from the Duple app, its App Store listing, its pricing page and terms.
